ATV3 no longer recognizes PMS on PC

I am logged into Plex connect on ATV3. Server count in settings says: 0. If I log out, it says 1 server, but I can obviously not access it without logging in, when I do, it goes back to 0. Python on computer says PlexAPI: failed to reach a server. Reason: timed out. I've restarted the PC and also restarted the ATV (rebooting only seems to work if you've already tried everything else. It appears I have some more trying to do)

cloud sync not works with Plex Connect ? Or I need special setting?

Hi,

I am very happy to using Plex Connect on my Apple tv 3 now. It has some small issues such as "trailer unavaliable...." but It wont bother me that much after "back" then "enter" button again.

Also I log in my Plex account, I found my cloud sync folder located under the Plex Connect.

I never able to play them on the apple tv directly.......

I just want to know this function still under testing or I need to change some advanced setting on my Plex Connect ?

PlexConnect can't find my server but is logged in MyPlex

Hello,

I have been struggling with PlexConnect the whole week-end, with few results.
PlexConnect is up and ready on my Raspberry Pi. The aTV is able to access internet with the Pi as the DNS server.
I can log in into MyPlex with PlexConnect on the Apple TV.
The issue is: PlexConnect can't find the PSM server.
On the contrary, the iOS app are able to reach my PMS and read content, the same for the webapp.
Please find below the details of my setup...
After a lot of reading on the forum, I have fine tuned a bit my installation, with no success....

I have spotted an error with Python:

How to update PlexConnect?

$

Hello guys,

I am trying to update my PlexConnect to latest version but Im having some problems doing that.

Steps that I did:

  • Moved PlexConnect folder from programs folder to desktop.

  • Created new PlexConnect folder with latest version in programs folder.

  • Created new certificates using the following commands:

C:\OpenSSL-Win64\bin\openssl.exe req -new -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -out C:\trailers.pem -keyout C:\trailers.key -x509 -days 7300 -subj "/C=US/CN=www.icloud.com" -config C:\OpenSSL-Win64\bin\openssl.cfg

C:\OpenSSL-Win64\bin\openssl.exe x509 -in C:\trailers.pem -outform der -out C:\trailers.cer

type C:\trailers.key >> C:\trailers.pem

  • Moved trailers.pem and trailers.cer files to PlexConnect-master\assets\certificates folder

  • Edit Settings.cfg from hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com to hosttointercept = www.icloud.com

  • Run PlexConnect.py

I always had this running well, but after upgrade stopped working... when I open my iMovies appears that app is not available.

What I am missing? :)
Please help!

Movies stops every 15 mins

Hello guys,

Maybe someone can help me with this issue that I'm experience since 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Every time I watch a new movie or tv-show, the video stops every 15 or 20 mins of play.
I need to click immediately on "menu" button to go back and resume movie again... If I don't do that, the movie image freezes but subtitles keeps showing. And when I resume movie again, the subtitle appears out of sync.

I don't know whats happening because I never had this kind of issue in my 2 years of using.
Does anyone have any clue of what could be?

Apple TV 3
Model: A1469
Software: 7.2 (7512)

My PlexConnect settings:
http://prntscr.com/9v03vv

PlexConnect Version: 0.5-dev

I have notice that the new version is 0.5-dev-101215
Do you think that the upgrade will help me?
Btw, what the steps that I need to do to upgrade to latest version?

Hope someone can help me, thank you guys and sorry for my poor English, is not my native language.

(Bug) Music Library: ALAC with high bitrates

$

I have some m4a files encoded in Apple lossless whose bitrate is higher than 1000Kbps. They do not play (my server has transcoding disabled), and I suspect that if transcoding was enabled (I can't do that, my Syno has an ARM processor and transcoding cannot be enabled) they would play with reduced quality.

XMLConverter.py has the following code:

        maxAudioBitrateUncompressed = '1000'

        audioATVNative = \
            Media.get('audioCodec','-') in ("mp3", "aac", "ac3", "drms") and \
            int(Media.get('bitrate','0')) <= int(maxAudioBitrateCompressed) \
            or \
            Media.get('audioCodec','-') in ("alac", "aiff", "wav") and \
            int(Media.get('bitrate','0')) <= int(maxAudioBitrateUncompressed)

The fact is that, if I change maxAudioBitrateUncompressed to 2000 all goes well. But looking at ATV3 specs I don't see the need to have a check for maxAudioBitrateUncompressed at all

Audio Formats

HE-AAC (V1), AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through

Can we have that check removed ? Or maxAudioBitrateUncompressed value increased to at least 2000Kbps ?

Convenient way tp update plex Connect?

Hi,

I'm running version 0.5-dev-020615, and of what I can tell there should be an update for me. Right? Users seems to be running higher versions (like 0.5-dev-101215)
So, how do I update in the convenient way?
I hope theres a way without doing a clean new install with the new files?

I'm running with the trailers hijack and as you might guess by that, have not a jb ATV. (AVT3)

Thanks.

Not PlexConnect related.... ATV4 native trailer app

This isn't really PlexConnect related but I'll post it here as it is Apple TV 4 related and I don't know maybe someone will find it useful.

If, like me, you aren't from the US then you may have noticed that the non US ATV4's don't have a native Apple Trailers app. So in an effort to learn ATV4 coding I decided to write my own. If anyone wants to try it you can grab it from my github:-

https://github.com/roidy/Trailers_aTV_4

Just like the ATV4 PlexConnectApp you'll need to be on a Mac with xCode and have the ability to build the project yourself. Any issues or comments, please post them to my GitHub and not here, thanks.

Baa, could you please lock this thread.

OpenPlex (Windows APP) Beta 0.1

Thanks to the following teams for their amazing work on their projects:

OpenPlex (OSX APP) developed by Wahlman.j (Source Code), CyberGhost84 (GUI) Flipman6 (Obj-C)

PlexConnect by iBaa, roidy, f00bb4r, and many others

Please note that this is a Beta version and for testing purposes.

Welcome to OpenPlex for Windows. Below you will find a screenshot of the ugly beta version of the program at this exact moment.

With the blessing from Walman.j to create this about two months ago I finally had a free moment tonight to sit down and try something out.

This beta version works on my system and allows you to minimize the program to the system tray and the python script running PlexConnect is running in the background.

I am looking for testers to let me know if this doesn't work on your Windows 7 system after meeting the requirements below.

[attachment=49088:gui.PNG]

Requirements currently:

  • Windows 7 (x32 or x64)
  • Python 2.7
  • PlexConnect located at: C:\Program Files\PlexConnect-master
  • A copy of PlexConnect.py in the PlexConnect-master folder renamed to: PlexConnect.pyw
  • *Warning: The 'Stop' option will kill all open python sessions at the moment, that will be one of the first things to go in the next release (thanks for reminding me roidy!)

I apologize for all the requirements at the moment, as I develop the app they will disappear.

Download 7zip files

To run simply double click the 'setup.exe' file in the folder and it will prompt to install 'OpenPlex'. If you wish to remove the program simply remove 'OpenPlex' from the Add/Remove Programs console like a normal Windows program. *Note: this will install the application as a stand-alone program in your All Programs under 'OpenPlex'.

GitHub Code

Thanks again to Wahlman.j, CyberGhost84 & Flipman6 for the inspiration and hard work on OpenPlex (OSX APP)!

OpenPlex app or assistance donations appreciated US-$ // EUR

Hi

I have a debian (OpenMediaVault) server with Plex installed. Today i installed plexconnect. But i have no luck with this..
My debian will also be used for owncloud and other services. The ports 443 and 80 are already in use. My webserver application is nginx, not apache.

I have installed plexconnect with the following commands:
aptitude install git-core
cd /opt/
git clone https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect.git
cd PlexConnect

mkdir /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/
openssl req -new -nodes -newkey rsa:2048 -out /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.pem -keyout /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.key -x509 -days 7300 -subj "/C=US/CN=trailers.apple.com"
openssl x509 -in /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.pem -outform der -out /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.cer && cat /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.key >> /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.pem

The .cer file i had installed on the Apple TV. But when i start ./PlexConnect.py i have no connection from the Apple TV to my PlexServer. Here are my Settings.cfg:

The DNS service looks good. The response from the AppleTV will be answered. But i receive: The trailers are unavailable. Please try again later.

I have also created a plexconnect file in the /etc/nginx/sites-available/:

upstream plexconnect {

  server 192.168.1.30:180;
}

server {
  listen 80;
  server_name trailers.apple.com;

  location / {
    proxy_set_header Host                   $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Real-IP              $remote_addr;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For        $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;

    proxy_pass  http://plexconnect;
  }
}

server {
  listen 443;
  server_name trailers.apple.com;

  ssl_certificate         /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.pem;
  ssl_certificate_key     /opt/PlexConnect/assets/certificates/trailers.key;

  ssl on;

  location / {
    proxy_set_header Host                   $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Real-IP              $remote_addr;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For        $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;

    proxy_pass  http://plexconnect;
  }
}

But with this file. I can not reload nginx. Because the ports are alread in use.

Have you a idea?

Thank you very much.

Photo library is not rotating photos

I have a photo library that contains the attached photo. This photo should be viewed in portrait mode. It displays correctly in PMS thumbnails (both in PlexWeb and PlexConnect), it also display correctly in PlexConnect in the slideshow on the left of the screen before selecting the folder containning the photo.

The problem is when I try to display the photo, or use the PlexConnect slideshow function. The photo appears rotated (in landscape mode), which is incorrect.

If I load the photo in iCloud it is displayed in the ATV "full-size" in the correct portrait orientation, using ATV's native functions (not PlexConnect).

What am I doing wrong ?

Not showing content despite connecting to Plexconnect

Hi all,

My setup: Apple TV 3, DNS server on Apple TV set to 192.168.100.10 (the Synology NAS running Plexconnect), Synology DS412+ running DSM 5.2, latest PlexConnect 0.5-12, Plex 0.9.15.2 running on Synology NAS as well.

My Synology is connected to my network via ethernet as well as via OpenVPN to Private Internet Access. However, I have multiple gateways activated within the DSM, so it's reachable on both the private IP as well as the VPN IP address. In Plex I added a DDNS domain updated by my network router to the "custom server access url" option and I can access the server through that address from outside my network. Inside my network I can access it via the private IP. The secure connection option in Plex is turned off.

The issue is: despite being connected to the Plexconnect Server and despite showing my plex sections, no individual items are displayed when I enter the sections and there is s message saying "PlexConnect: no content to display" (<--translated from German).

Here is my settings.cfg:
[PlexConnect]
enable_plexgdm = False
ip_pms = 127.0.0.1
port_pms = 32400
enable_dnsserver = True
port_dnsserver = 53
ip_dnsmaster = 192.168.100.1
prevent_atv_update = True
enable_plexconnect_autodetect = False
ip_plexconnect = 192.168.100.10
hosttointercept = trailers.apple.com
port_webserver = 81
enable_webserver_ssl = True
port_ssl = 443
certfile = /usr/local/plexconnect/etc/certificates/trailers.pem
allow_gzip_atv = False
allow_gzip_pmslocal = False
allow_gzip_pmsremote = True
loglevel = High
logpath = /usr/local/plexconnect/var

Here is the pastebin link to a log: http://pastebin.com/AjgHS7bP

Any ideas are extremely appreciated!

WebServer: File Not Found error

Hey Guys,

I'm getting erratic behaviour on my freshly installed PMS (0.9.15.2.1663-7efd-46) + PlexConnect (0.5-dev-101215) on Windows 2012R2 with my ATV3 (v7.2).

When trying to navigate through the Trailor (PlexConnect) menus, it often seems to hang and then errors like the following appear in the PlexConnect log:

When I first fired it up, PMS hadn't finished indexing my library and even though it was throwing an error, I was getting proper navigation and some thumbnails. Now PMS has finished indexing and I've turned the loggin in PlexConnect up, I just end up with the error above, when I try to nav into any of the main headings under a library (e.g. All Movies, On Deck, Unwatched, etc). I've also noticed it a few times when I first hit a library (e.g. Videos).

Any ideas?

Note: My config is possibly slightly unusual, as I'm running Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials edition, with the web site running and the RDP gateway, so 80 and 443 on the default IP address are already in use. So I added a secondary IP and made sure IIS, etc wasn't using it, so that PMS could bind properly. Then put set up trailers.apple.com as a domain in my internal DNS, pointing at that second IP.

Auto Start PlexConnect on Ubuntu

I have been trying to get the daemon to start on boot on my Ubuntu server, but I can not get it working. There is a link on the PlexConnect setup instructions to do this, but the link seems to be broken.

I have PlexConnect working great, but I have to run the PlexConnect_deamon.bash start command everytime I reboot my system.

ALAC DirectPlay

After some years of "resistance" I'm trying to evaluate Plex for music, now that Plex has been enhanced and playlist support was made available) but I have a problem. Plex plays (DirectPlay) mp3's but tries to transcode alac's and my server cannot transcode. But alac's are supported natively by the ATV (I've been using Synology Audio Station without problem).

Probably this could be solved by changing the Plex profile (I don't know how, if someone could send me a working profile it would be superb), but I'm wondering why I can state in PlexConnect to force DirectPlay and this only applies to videos, and not to music files. Can this be changed ?

Please Help - Need to run PlexConnect on QNAP NAS drive for Apple TV 2

Hi all,

I'm hoping this has already been covered and someone can just point me to the right thread. If not any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, I have a QNAP TS-853 NAS. I have Plex Media Server installed. I want to now use Plex on my Apple TV 2 from the NAS. Is there a way to get PlexConnect running directly on the QNAP that can run the Trailers hijack?

I have achieved getting this working using my Mac via OpenPlex but the downside is of course that the Mac has to be present and running for it to work. Ideally I want to get this working directly from the NAS as it's always present and running. You get the idea.

Looking forward to any help/responses.

Regards,
Damien

music on photo slide show

Hi,

I've just started using plex and plexconnect with my ATV3. I have a couple of issues.

I have added a few channels to my PMS that play on plex client apps but not when I try and access them the content doesn't play (channels are AnimeHD and rawAnime.tv).

The next issue is when viewing a slide show of my photos. I'd like music to play in the background but the music library is set to none within the slideshow settings with no option to change it.

Are these known issue or am I missing something?

Thanks

Plexconnect running on any jailbroken iOS device

I have my jailbroken iphone 4s on iOS 8.3 running plexconnect! (Also a mini2 on 8.3, ipad 3 on 8.3.)

Updated instructions for iOS devices here (tested on iPhone 4S iOS 8.3):

SSH into your JB iOS device (install OpenSSH from the BB repo if needed) then paste this easy one liner or fire up mobile terminal on your iOS device and paste it using that instead. "APT 0.7 Strict" or higher required (a simple search in cydia will allow you to install it, required for apt-get function). INSTALL "APT 0.7 strict" PRIOR TO RUNNING THIS COMMAND BELOW!

iBaa or Wahlman.j with prompts for desired theme & optional autoupdating plist:
apt-get -y update; apt-get -y upgrade; apt-get -y install git; rm -R /Applications/iosjailbreak; cd /Applications; git clone git://github.com/wahlmanj/iosjailbreak.git; cd /Applications/iosjailbreak; ./installios.bash

Please note PIL (Fanart) does not work using this method...yet (not sure if it ever will).

This method is best suited for traveling, you can connect multiple devices to one jailbroken PlexConnect host or repurposing an old or new iOS device to be a PlexConnect host. Not everyone brings a laptop when traveling or uses airplay from the Plex for iOS app or other airplay enabled devices. Personally I prefer a remote to control my aTV and find airplaying to cause an immense amount of congestion on any network that I have ever used. If you do use this method I suggest to turn on airplay mode then turn your wifi back on to keep your network connection on your iOS device alive even if your iOS device has its screen locked.

OpenPLex - lost fanart, PIL installation fail

Suddenly I lost all the fan art via OpenPlex/ATV3. Probably due to having auto-update on in OpenPlex. Stupid.

Tried re-installing Openplex, certs a.s.o. I was (and am using) iBaa's them - as it didn't require PIL - which never installed properly since El Capitan. Now it seems iBaa's theme also require PIL...

Ok, trying to install PIL through OpenPlex fails, as it always did, with the following error at first:

Error: No such keg: /usr/local/Cellar/python
Uninstalling /usr/local/Cellar/freetype/2.6_1... (60 files, 2,6M)
Uninstalling /usr/local/Cellar/jpeg/8d... (18 files, 760K)
Error: No such keg: /usr/local/Cellar/python
Warning: You are using OS X 10.11.
We do not provide support for this pre-release version.

Didn't think ElCapitan still is a pre-pre- lease, though...
Anyway, installation continues until this error:

==> make install
