Having issues with dual audio files, both english and Japanese audio streams play simultaneously for some reason.

This issue is specific to my ATV3 as audio plays perfectly over my laptop.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Two more problems with music Support

1) I can play my music form "Albuns", but if I try to use Artists / Genre / Decade / etc it does not shows the Albuns, and I can't play anything
2) I have an album with two CDs. In PlexWeb I can see Disc 1 (tracks 1-14) and Disc 2 (tracks 1-14). In PlexConnect I do not see this "disc separation", I see track 1-4 followed by another track 1-14, it would be preferrable that each group of tracks had an header with Disc x

Hello all,

I have never used PlexConnect before, and had a 3rd gen AppleTV that I wasn't really using, so I figured I can set it up for a friend.

The PMS is on a Windows 10 64 bit machine, all updated. PMS is also latest PlexPass version. Apple TV is 3rd gen, latest firmware.

I've tried to signin to myplex, and also signed out, and AppleTV simply doesn't see the local PMS. It sees my two shared servers, but not the local one.

There is also an Xbox One on the network, and the Xbox One's Plex app sees the PMS just fine.

The network here is under VPN through DD-WRT router, but I don't care about having access to see this server from the outside.

Help?

DNS not working - Trailers Unavailable

I've looked through all of the threads but couldn't find one specifically related to my issues.

Setup:
Windows 10
ATV3 - 7.2

When I start plexconnect everything starts up fine. When I try to load into Trailers I get trailers unavailable. On the Windows side plexconnect shows this:

09:59:59 PlexConnect: started: 09:59:59

If I set my Windows machine to use itselfs as DNS I start seeing responses in the plexconnect window. I however never see anything come across for my ATV3. I would assume this means that something is blocking port 53. My firewall is turned off on private networks which my computer is set to. Not sure how to find the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ATV 2: "We're unable to play this video" on some mkv container with H264/AVC + DTS but not others

$

I am getting the "We're unable to play this video..." error on some mkv containers with H264/AVC + DTS but not on others, on the following setup:

Non-jailbroken ATV 2 running on latest update (AppleTV2,1_6.2.1_11D258)
PMS 0.9.12.18 on Windows 7
PlexConnect 0.5-dev-211015 on Python 2.7.10 on Windows 7 (same as PMS)

PMS Settings:
- Transcoder Quality = Auto
- Dolby Digital on Apple TV = OFF

ATV 2 Settings:
- Audio & Video -> Dolby Digital = OFF

PlexConnect Settings:
- Transcoder Action = Auto
- Transcoder Quality = 720p 4.0Mbps
- Subtitle Renderer = Auto

The seems to be linked only to video containers (in this case, mkv) with a single audio stream that is in DTS format, though some files with DTS audio play without issues. Sometimes the "We're unable to play this video..." error occurs when using the seek (fast-forward / rewind) feature.

Here is an example of relevant PMS debug log output:

The same file that caused the above errors plays fine in VLC on a Mac or PC with audio transcoding down to stereo.

It's entirely possible that the files giving the error have corrupt data because they have been copied from DVD-Rs that they were backed up to. If that's true I wonder why VLC can handle the errors more gracefully and play through where PMS can't.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No PMS found, whether or not signed in to MyPlex, as per PlexConnect.log (a "more detailed fresh" one). Please advise this first-time user about how to remedy the issue.

… as stated both by the TV settings (greyed out) and in PlexConnect’s log on startup, or restart for that matter. Helpful reference found on neither its wiki nor this forum but for OpenPlex 0.6 which then must be, I suppose, the one way to go to display posters and backgrounds.

The installer however stalls right after launch whether from out- or inside /Applications, ctrl-C’ing PlexC's running instance first, and a console message reads:

PlexConnect/ATV3/Windows worked for over a year then stopped

I had a new modem installed yesterday. When they finished, I looked up my PMS server IP and updated the DNS IP on ATV3. Tested and it worked fine.

However I failed to assign a static IP and today when I attempted to connect it failed. Went in, set static IP, updated DNS again, and no bueno.

My plexconnect.py log appears normal, no errors. (BELOW) seems like there is an issue getting ATV3 to connect to my PMS. I'm not a network guy, any suggestions?

I have been trying to get the daemon to start on boot on my Ubuntu server, but I can not get it working. There is a link on the PlexConnect setup instructions to do this, but the link seems to be broken.

I have PlexConnect working great, but I have to run the PlexConnect_deamon.bash start command everytime I reboot my system.

EDIT: I apologize for the horrible formatting, can't get it to show up as code for some reason. Help appreciated^^

Make sure you have screen installed:
sudo apt-get install screen
Create a file called plexconnect in /etc/init.d:
sudo nano /etc/init.d/plexconnect

Give it the following content (update the DAEMON_OPTS="-S PlexConnect -d -m /usr/local/lib/PlexConnect/PlexConnect.py" line so it will point to your installation of plexconnect):
#!/bin/bash
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:          plexconnect

Make the file executable
sudo chmod 755 /etc/init.d/plexconnect
And check whether it works (make sure plexconnect is not running before starting this one):
sudo service plexconnect start
Make sure the script starts automatically when you reboot:
sudo update-rc.d plexconnect defaults

Does PlexPass 0.9.14 break PlexConnect?

I'm not using PlexConnect at the moment so I can't test, but I noticed when I was packaging up the latest PlexPass release for FreeBSD that they removed the AppleTV profile (not related to ATV4 which is "tvOS")

removed file: Resources/Profiles/iOS-AppleTV.xml

I dug around in PlexConnect and found it identifies itself as:

def getXArgsDeviceInfo(options={}):
    xargs = dict()
    xargs['X-Plex-Device'] = 'AppleTV'
    xargs['X-Plex-Model'] = '3,1' # Base it on AppleTV model.
    #if not options is None:
    if 'PlexConnectUDID' in options:
            xargs['X-Plex-Client-Identifier'] = options['PlexConnectUDID']  # UDID for MyPlex device identification
    if 'PlexConnectATVName' in options:
            xargs['X-Plex-Device-Name'] = options['PlexConnectATVName'] # "friendly" name: aTV-Settings->General->Name.
    xargs['X-Plex-Platform'] = 'iOS'
    xargs['X-Plex-Client-Platform'] = 'iOS'
    if 'aTVFirmwareVersion' in options:
        xargs['X-Plex-Platform-Version'] = options['aTVFirmwareVersion']
    xargs['X-Plex-Product'] = 'PlexConnect'
    xargs['X-Plex-Version'] = __VERSION__

    return xargs

so I'm curious if this affects PlexConnect...

PlexConnect and ATV4: which "app" to hijack ?

$

As the current Plex Client for ATV4 is still a bit buggy and I am lazy to unplug my ATV4 for my ATV3, I would like to use PlexConnect with the new ATV.

But after reading that the trailers app is not available in many countries, I'm unsure which "app" I can install and afterwards hijack.

I think I saw the answer buried in another thread, but by asking the question in its own thread, some other users will find the answer more directly.

Cannot play from remote shared library

I've just setup my first PlexConnect/ATV3 and whilst it works fine, if a little slow, on local content, when I connect to a remote shared library it (a) shows no images (b) gives an 'unable to play' message (not exact wording) when I try to play the media.

This shared library works fine from my 'NowTV'/Roku box with the Plex app, I can AirPlay the same shared media to the ATV3 from the Plex app on my ipad/iphone and it also works using the PMS browser interface. Home Theatre doesn't seem to offer the ability to access shared libraries. This shared library resides on a server at my workplace and is also accessed by other ATV3 users from their homes with no problems.

I'm not entirely sure where to start looking. I've scanned thru the log file, all 411,000 lines of it and nothing jumps out at me other than quite a lot of 'stumbled on' entries. The only other thing I notice is a diffence in versions of PMS...

home server : productVersion="0.9.12.19.1537-f38ac80"
shared server : productVersion="0.9.12.18.1520-6833552"

I hate to attach such a verbose log file but have done so along with the settings.cfg both zipped up.

These are both from my home server, I wasn't sure if I should really be looking at the remote servers log files?
Any tips or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Chris

How to Uninstall Plexconnect from ATV2?

Hi all, I've got a jailbroken Apple TV 2 (running 5.3). I recently installed Plexconnect via SSH but decided that Plexconnect did not fit my needs so I now would like to uninstall the app. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find instructions online, so if anyone kind enough on these forums could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Good evening friends of the group.
First I would like to thank the "Baa" and all those who contributed to the growth of the project.

Now that we have managed to work with the background (fanart) exists we get the perspective of the themes music.

I believe that only lack this to get in we wish to.

Sorry for English.

Is there a way to use plexconnect or another program to intercept specific appletv programs to a geo-unblocking DNS.

For example;
CBC App to a canadian DNS
Hulu App to USA DNS

Thanks In advance

STILL no Plex icon....

Using the latest ver. 0.6 on Github I have managed to install and get OpenPlex and PlexConnect into a functional state, i.e. I can view movies on my PMS, hijacking Trailers

HOWEVER, The d----d icon simply won't change! According to the instructions provided by the OpenPlex app, I get to where I have changed AND SAVED (?) the Settings.cfg, now containing "icon = /Applications/PlexConnect/assets/icons/icon@720.png".

I re-start OpenPlex, and Settings.cfg immediately changes back to contain "icon = com.apple.imovietheatre.appletv".

I have tried making backup-up of Settings.cfg, restoring Settings.cfg but whatever I do it changes back to default as soon as I restart OpenPlex.

Needless to say, the icon on my aTV's never changes....
