Currently my father in law is using PlexConnect on several Apple tv's third generations. The current router is sort of dying. With the holidays coming up I would like to get him a new one.
He is sort of Fritzbox fan, and I would like to get one to replace the current router. Now my question is, does PlexConnect work with any Fritzbox or should I get a specific type?

Firstly thank you Baa as I have been a happy user of Plexconnect for years !
My PMS died the other day and I did a rebuild. I have all other clients working on the latest PlexPass build (Roku, ATV4, Samsung TV Client).
However I am not sure what I'm doing wrong with the Plexconnect install.
I even re-generated the certificates and installed them via the network method.
I use Myplex to have [Parent] and [Kid] sections. Before I login to Myplex, Plexconnect sees my PMS.
However after I login, the PMS disappears !

OK - Complete plex connect newbie here so apologies is this is something daft. In fact new to PLex as a whole but it's looking good so far.

Media server running a Windows Server 2012 box where I'm trying to run PlexConnect
Media server also running a Win7 box where I first tested it.
Installed plexconnect and python. Certs have been created and installed using the iPhone configuration method.

Ok this is quite strange. I really can't explain this. Today i was enjoying my Plex on AppleTV with Plexconnect configured on wall street journal, when i left the room for a couple of hours. Everything worked great since 1.5 years. When i came back i saw a new Wall Street Journal icon (WSJ Video) and when i click it i'm sent to the real wall street journal channel.
What happened?
I'm the only one?
i run plexconnect with openplex on a mac mini, but i haven't done anything since last time it worked...

I have been playing with the new chromecast 2 for some days now and what I noticed is that it has no problem with .mkv and .srt (direct stream) getting out of sync after either FF or resuming, so is it possible this could be addressed and looked at again now the PMS has had some changes subtitle vise.
Another thing, is it possible to change subtitle fonts? What I miss is a black line/shadow all around the fonts and not only on 1 side, it can be difficult to read when there is a white background.
Ever since the upgrad to El Capitan, I've experienced plexconnect not running. I reload the daemon via the following sequence but a day or so later I check and its not running again. This never occurred under Yosemite, the daemon was solidly on even after rebooting (as it should). Is there a trick to get the daemon running like it used to, under El Cap?
In terminal: cd to OSX folder under /PlexConnect-master/Support
sudo ./install.bash

I'm starting this here so it can have it's own thread, for this and other Windows 10 issues. Plexconnect basically works, but some of the setup steps don't work out as expected. Mainly you can't invoke Python from a command prompt like it seems you can do in other windows versions. But you can invoke a .py file.
Here's what happened so far: I set up Plexconnect which works fine, then I installed PyWin32 (for the auto-start) which worked with my version of Python, then I tried to run the install.bat file for setting up the Service. Which failed because I may not have the Plexconnect folder in the right place. I extracted the zip into Program Files, and it created 2 nested folders named "Plexconnect - Master", the files being in the second folder.
The installer.bat could not find the files it was looking for. So I edited the batch file putting in direct paths to Plexconnect. Plus, because of the Python command issue, I had to run the Batch files from the Python folder itself.
Then when I ran the start batch file, I also had to edit the paths. But when I tried to run it, it did not start the service, it merely opened a command window to my Python folder. So I need to find a syntax that will work with windows 10.
Finally, after I rebooted, the PyWin32 service was running, but Plexconnect wasn't loaded.
At that point I gave up and just ran Plexconnect.py from an admin command prompt, which is odd because it starts a Python console right up. But you can't start Python itself using any of the commands from the batch files.
So the Python service starts, but it's not loading Plexconnect. When I get on my Plex PC I'll post the batch files as I edited them.

Is it possible to get older versions of OpenPlex. Since 0.6, all of my Apple TV's are very slow to load the Movies & TV Shows Library under Library/Shared Libraries. It takes about 60 seconds to load, after that the individual show sub menu and movie sub menus are instant.

I got PC to work perfectly but any other app I tried to connect to (Netflix, HBO, YouTube etc.) would get stuck on "Accessing" page and wouldn't work. Anyone else have this issue?

Hello every one , I installed Plex on my window and Apple TV 3 recently, I added many plug in bundle to my channel but on both ( window and ATV ) I get this message "No response from Plex Media Server" and it can't play the episods or ... , I can see all channel logos and episode picture tile but I can't play them ,
every time I entered to a channel to play I got this message on my PlexConnect.py (Python 27):
" request Timeout=20
HTTP error 500 : Internal server error "
I had this problem on window and Apple TV
I disabled my firewall but same error
I'm using window 7 (64X)

Just discovered that the recent update to iTunes, followed by the adaption of PMS, broke the channel on PlexConnect. Is there any other (working) audio channel available/needed to check the fix against?
I've been trying to play around with some of the xml templates to add input fields, but i'm completely stumped. I mean, worse case scenario, I over-ride the <search> element, but there has to be a better way.
Has anyone found any kind of API or syntax list for the xml? I know I'm grasping here, but it's worth a try..

I had a new modem installed yesterday. When they finished, I looked up my PMS server IP and updated the DNS IP on ATV3. Tested and it worked fine.
However I failed to assign a static IP and today when I attempted to connect it failed. Went in, set static IP, updated DNS again, and no bueno.
My plexconnect.py log appears normal, no errors. (BELOW) seems like there is an issue getting ATV3 to connect to my PMS. I'm not a network guy, any suggestions?

I want to know if PlexConnect GDM Discovery is capable to search in 2 different interfaces. I explain: here I have 2 distinct networks, and the machine where PlexConnect in running has 2 interfaces, each one in one network.

What a cool idea, wiki instructions were a little bit vague on ATV setup bit, but got there in the end. Cannot believe this is 2 years old and I only just found it! I was googling to see what Plex looks like on an ATV4 and stumbled across this.
I had the iPlayer channel installed, ran it and it worked really snappily, so iPlayer has been on ATV3 all along! Must see what other plugins work.

When attempting "MyPlex Sign In" on Apple TV, I get an endlessly spinning progress wheel, and login never occurs.

I saw what appeared to be a promising suggestion on the following GitHub issue page: https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/issues/341 . However, even after making the suggested changes to lines 38 and 378 of PlexAPI.py, the issue persists.

Hi!
I have been using Plex server on ubuntu + plexconnect + apple tv3 for a long time. Everything has been working always really nice.
Now suddenly if I select subtitles audio goes totally out of sync. It happens even on .mkv + .srt which have been worked fine. Few days ago watched GoT S05E01 with no problems. Yesterday tried to watch next episode and problems started.
I didn't change any settings. Only thing what has changes in a while was update to Plex server. But everything worked ok after that!
I have been trying to change streaming settings and subtitle settings from apple tv menus but doesnt matter. Everything is ok if subtitles is not selected.
Ideas?
